Circumstances of Destruction or Loss	The destruction of Male and Female has not been documented. It's location has been unknown since it was placed on commission to Hildebrand Gurlitt in 1941.
Notes	Male and Female was bequeathed to the Museum Folkwang Essen, and confiscated by Nazis in 1937 as degenerate. It was exhibited in Room 3 (National Socialist inventory number 15966) of the Entartete Kunst exhibition of degenerate art held in Munich in 1937, and passed on commission to Gurlitt in 1941.
