Notes	Remarks: Preparatory study for etching, At the Louvre: Mary Cassatt in the Etruscan Gallery, which was to have been published in a magazine of prints, Le jour et la nuit, which Degas, Mary Cassatt, Pissarro, et al. decided to produce in 1879 but which was never published due to lack of cooperation. For finished print see Delteil, 1919, no. 30. In the Degas Atelier sale of 1919 this drawing was framed with another study which appears in the final state of the etching. The sarcophagus dates from about 6000 B.C. For an illustration of the original in the Louvre, see L.
