Notes	Marks: Fully marked on upper rim to right of handle and on outer edge of collar bezel: maker's mark PE in shaped shield (Grimwade #2158) Britannia lion's head erased date letter f for 1701/2 Medium notes: The large bowl is raised, with an applied molding at its lip. The body is chased with flutes, bordered below by punched crescents and leafy trefoils and above by chased acanthus leaves and fish scales. Two central medallions are flanked by repoussé scrolls, fish scales, and leaves. The large cast handles are fashioned as lion's masks with curly manes and wrinkled brows each grasps between its teeth a hinged drop-ring handle with gadrooned ball. The mask is cast in one piece, the handle in identical halves joined horizontally. The raised circular foot with applied wire has a plain concave collar and rim divided by a band of diagonal gadrooning. The detachable collar, seamed once vertically, consists of 13 notches bordered by individually cast moldings of shells, flowers, and pendant acanthus leaves.
