lip
. The
body
is
chased
with
flutes

bordered
below
by
punched
crescents
and
leafy
trefoils
and
above
by
chased
acanthus
leaves
and
fish
scales
.
Two
central
medallions
are
flanked
by
repoussé
scrolls
,
fish
scales
, and
leaves
. The
large
cast
handles
are
fashioned
as
lion's
masks
with
curly
manes
and
wrinkled
brows
each
grasps
between
its
teeth
a
hinged
drop-ring
handle
with
gadrooned
ball
. The
mask
is
cast
in
one
piece
, the
handle
in
identical
halves
joined
horizontally
. The
raised
circular
foot
with
applied
wire
has a
plain
concave
collar
and
rim
divided
by a
band
of
diagonal
gadrooning
. The
detachable
collar
,
seamed
once
vertically
,
consists
of
13
notches
bordered
by
individually
cast
moldings
of
shells
,
flowers
, and
pendant
acanthus
leaves
. A
narrow
seamed
molding
is
applied
beneath
the
pendant
leaves
