applied
lip
molding

stepped
foot
molding

seamed

. The
flat
circular
base
is
inset
. The
curved
tubular
spout
is
raised
and has a
triangular
flap
attached
to its
lip
by a
3-part
hinge
with
tear-shaped
hinge
plate
. An
elliptical
hole
is
cut
in the
body
behind
the
spout
. The
handle
sockets
are
made
from
seamed
sheet
with
scalloped
outer
edges
, and the
C-curved
wooden
handle
is
attached
to
each
with a
silver
pin
inserted
top
to
bottom
. A
cut-card
strap
,
comprising
22
semicircular
tabs
projecting
from
both
sides
of an
applied
central
rib
,
is
secured
to the
outside
of the
handle
by the
socket
pins
a
single
button
knob
is
soldered
to its
top
.
Additional
panels
of
cut-card
work
are
applied
to the
body
at the
spout
and
handle
sockets
. The
coat
of
arms
is
engraved
to the
right
of the
handle
within
a
scrolled
foliate
cartouche
. The
tall
domed
cover
is
raised
and
chased
with
concave
flutes
and
narrow
bands
of
matting
.
It
has an
applied
molded
lip
, an
applied
bezel
, and a
cast
and
applied
vase-shaped
finial
. The
cover
is
attached
to the
upper
handle
socket
with a
5-part
hinge
, and a
knurled
and
voluted
thumbpiece
is
soldered
to the
upper
hinge
plate
and to the
back
of the
cover
